A year to Elite
It’s been over a year since I first started playing Rainbow 6 Vegas (by looking at the date I scored my first achievement in it), and finally I now have reached the rank of Elite and completed the game
According to the MGC Rainbow 6 Vegas Irish leaderboard, I’m now part of a very select group of 9 Irish gamers who have scored all 36/1000 from the game. It goes to show how difficult some of the achievements actually are. 3 others are stuck on 35/985, ailing to grasp Master of Ceremonies; and another 4 are on 35/960, having not yet achieved the highest rank.
I’m not surprised though, given that those two achievements are the hardest out of the game, in my opinion, to get. MoC is really tough as you need to fill up a 16-player lobby. Might not seem hard, except for the fact that normally, lobbies only have room for 14 players. Which is why you must start a dedicated server, thus sacrificing your ability to play. What makes it worse is it can’t be done for Ranked matches, which I have found are usually played the most.
As for getting to Elite, it takes a LOT of time. When you get to the higher ranks, it starts taking an insane amount of experience to level up. To get from Colonel to Elite takes around 140,000 experience points, which is around the same as 240 Realistic-High T-Hunts. Like I’ve said before somewhere, it’s a ridiculous amount of time to have to spend at the game for such a small reward (40GS).
At least in other games I own, where you have to spend a long time playing the game, the reward is decent. Take either NASCAR 08, where you get 500 points for persevering with the game (Complete all Driver Badges, Drive 5000 miles total, Win a Season in “The Chase”, Complete all Licences in “The Chase”), or possibly even NFS ProStreet (Completing Career mode whilst dominating every race day there is nets a total of around 300, along with the other points you gain along the way). Let’s just hope that in Vegas 2, there will be more of a reward for sticking with it.
One big advantage though is that is has been rumoured that those players in Vegas 1 who reach the rank of Elite get a starting bonus in Vegas 2. But, apparently that also falls true for those who completed the game on Realistic as well, which I already did months ago…
Either way, it better be worth it…

Wow. An elite? I don’t think I ever would’ve dreamed of getting such a high rank. Especially since I gave up on Vegas when I had no one to play with.:(

Wanna help me beat it someday?
You probably still have ages to go. It took me almost 3 weeks just to get from Colonel to Elite…
I can give you a hand, but it’ll take fucking ages…
