A sea of green
This weekend was very green. Not environmental green, but Irish green. Unlike last year, there was not a large sea of rowdy drinkers and lots of people throwing up. Instead there was trading, juices and sporting accomplishments and failures.
Obviously, lots of people will have watched the rugby last weekend, and will know that Ireland failed epically. Beating beaten very badly by England sort of put a damper on our 6 Nations campaign, that in fairness didn’t seem to be going anywhere after the very poor show against Italy in the first week. However, I seem to think that we made up for that in a field that Ireland really hasn’t shone in before - motor racing.
No, I’m not talking about Australia and the Formula 1. Instead we’re over at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City for the A1GP. Since 99% of you will probably have no idea what A1GP is, I guess I’ll need to link you here and here. Once you’re knowledgeable about the series, you’ll understand me better
Anyway, Team Ireland has been doing quite well this season with the introduction of Adam Carroll as our lead driver. His first weekend was great as he notched up a podium on his first race for the team. Ever since then his times and performances have been very good, showing that he had the ability to get our emerald-green car up near the front. After a decent haul of points, we did have two pointless weekends in Eastern Creek and Durban, but I think we can blame the South Africa race on being forced into the wall at the first restart! I’m glad to see that the last weekend we finally won something! And yes, I do think that Switzerland fully deserved their drive-through penalty for unsafe release from the pit-stop. We got ours done much quicker than they did, and they tried to force their way into a lead that we deserved!
Huge pic showing Adam and the huge winner’s trophy FTW:
Oh, and because I have too many tabs open, here’s a link dump/random news thingy
- Sky Sports predicts the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase drivers - I like their choice of #12
- I made €0.05 credit interest today. I wonder what percentage that works out to…
- Morocco ‘Facebook prince’ pardon - the entire royal family should just be thrown out of office for jailing him
- A random XBL friend request asking to share achievements in ProStreet. Handy
