Right, time to bring things back up to speed. Wow, that was the best excerpt ever… Watch the Elite Four get their asses owned! (56K warning)
Training was becoming a bitch, so I’ve stuck with the age-old tactic of just doing Elite Four runs and losing if need be. Since you no longer pay out half your cash when you lose, it’s a more viable strategy, earning not only precious Exp. Points, but also making a profit
One thing I noticed on my recon runs is that although the levels start low enough, they shoot up rather quickly. Aaron starts on 49-53, but Cynthia at the end is ten levels higher a 59-62! Also, what is essentially a mirror match with Cynthia is tough as well. So, you can see why so much time was taken out for training (and candy feeding, but we’re not going to get into that!)
Current party: Empol (Lv58), Garch (Lv62), Togek (Lv56), Leaf (Lv58), Doom (Lv60), Luca (Lv56)
Right, let’s get this shit over with…
You don’t want to know how long that took to record and get onto my computer… Several things you may want to note are how the rooms have all been re-designed to more suit each particular member’s dominant type. Also, the battle backgrounds in each room also reflect that colouring. I’d show you what the touch screen is like, but I can’t record two things at once!
But it’s still not over, there’s the final and usually long-winded battle against Cynthia to come. How fun…
So, it wasn’t as long and as drawn out as I thought. Being able to outpace her entire team is a great asset, especially as you get to the point where one-move KOs are quite a common occurence. Yes, the Elite Four is done and dusted with, you are correct in noticing it took me 35 hours to do so… (I’m not happy about that fact) and that’s the main part of the game done. But it isn’t the end of the notable battles, or even the Playthrough itself at all. There is still the extended story in the Battle Zone, and the completely overhauled Battle Frontier has plenty more opportunities for videos (as well as giving me more chances to hopefully improve my editing skills!)
While I’m on the subject, I’m starting to seriously think about how I’m going to go about my plans to completely record every part of my playthrough of the American version once it comes out this March. I’ve been playing around with several PC-based emulators to see if there would be more effective, and provide better quality that my basic camera recording, as well as possibly giving me the opportunity to show whatever’s on the Touch Screen as well. It does play a bit of a role in the cut-scenes, and it’s a bit more “dressed-up” than in D/P, so leaving it out is missing quite a bit.
I’ll go into more detail about this closer to the actual release date itself. I plan on going through with the same team as this one, and maybe actually narrating it. Also, if you watch raocow’s videos, you might remember what he calls “chipmunk time”? Well, I might just have a bit of “Baby Bear time”
